We were saddened to lose one of our most respected members, Frank Jordan, when he passed away suddenly in the spring. Frank was a hard-working and ever-present plotholder and his own plot was productive and well-maintained. But so much more than that; so many of us benefitted from Frank’s help whether in digging over a difficult patch for the secretary, or building a fruit cage for the treasurer, or simply stopping for a chat. He also was also instrumental in clearing brambles for the community garden. He is sorely missed.

At the request of his wife, Winnie Jordan, the plotholders and the Victoria Club, rather than send flowers to the funeral, donated money to buy a bench dedicated to Frank’s memory. The bench now takes pride of place at the far end of the site and is visible from all plots. A fitting tribute.
